Command Alkon receives award from Ohio Governor

In August 2009 Command Alkon was awarded a Governor’s Excellence in Exporting Award from the state of Ohio. Ohio Governor Ted Strickland presented Command Alkon Vice President Mark Merino with the award, which was given to 27 Ohio export leaders at the Ohio Global Summit, an event sharing successful strategies for global trade. Since 1986 the Governor's Excellence in Exporting Awards (e-Awards) have recognized companies and organizations of all sizes that have shown superior performance in exporting or heightened awareness of exporting as a vital component of Ohio’s economy. "Ohio is the only state in the nation to see export growth every year since 1998,” Strickland said. “An important part of our strategy to create economic opportunity at home is to expand Ohio’s global economic presence.”

Over the years Command Alkon has witnessed a steady increase in sales to countries outside of the United States interested in concrete plant automation. Command Alkon Vice President Mark Merino notes, “Several years ago we recognized that to continue our desired growth, we had to figure out how to open up new markets outside of our traditional regions. We undertook substantial investments to globalize our products and services and to open up new distribution channels. With the global collapse of 2008, this strategy has shown to be beneficial. We are exporting over 60% of our current product offerings and have been able to weather the storm with our new level of geographical diversity."

The industry’s number one batching controls system, COMMANDbatch, is manufactured at our Columbus, Ohio offices and contributed heavily to our receiving this award. We are pleased to receive this recognition from the state of Ohio.
