Command Alkon Expands and Recommits in Birmingham and Beyond
Command Alkon’s growth became a deciding factor of its future space needs, fueling a renewal and remodeling of their existing office space in Birmingham, Alabama. “Command Alkon chose to renew its lease prior to the 2019 expiration because they wanted to be prepared for future growth and Point One Holdings, the building owner, was motivated to keep Command Alkon as the anchor tenant within the building,” said Monty Harris, Savills Studley Corporate Managing Director, who advised Command Alkon. “As importantly, the company took this time to evaluate its workplace. We chose to engage KPS Group to help us navigate the many options to consider and ultimately decided to make several changes to provide a more collaborative, progressive work environment.”
“At the outset of the project, KPS Group conducted a visioning session with Command Alkon’s leadership team and solicited feedback from all employees about the company’s image, brand, space, and growth via an in-depth questionnaire. It was important that the work space offer flexibility for Command Alkon’s future growth plans and be an environment that would attract and retain the best talent. The design team reflected the company’s new direction in its space with a light, bright, flexible interior featuring wall graphics that portray key elements about the company’s history,” said Donna Dowling of KPS Group.
Phil Ramsey, President and CEO of Command Alkon, said, “We are committed to making the most fiscally responsible business decision and Point One Holdings made our decision easy by being a great partner to us.”
David Fullington, Senior Vice President of CBRE who represented PointOne Holdings said, “We are excited about continuing our long term relationship with Command Alkon at 1800 International Park. Command Alkon is an outstanding company and we look forward to serving them for many years to come.”
“We are pleased and complimented the Command Alkon has chosen International Park as their corporate home for the long term. They are a leader in their industry and we believe their choice of International Park is indicative of the overall quality of the property and the management,” said David Garfinkle, a managing member of PointOne Holdings.
Command Alkon also signed a lease earlier this year for a 30,000-square-foot build-to-suit facility in Dublin, OH to be completed in late 2015 as a replacement for their existing facility in that area. This new state-of-the-art facility allows for continued business and employee growth for their batch development and assembly processes.
